Blinded

Burning away the centre hole
The core is flaming white
Rats infest the wounds
Devouring everything in sight
Countless in the dark again, glowing ruby eyes
Pinpricks of red shooting for the amber skies
Searching for a way
Looking for a door
Blind to what should have been
But still find a reason to run in fear

Cower...
Cower and crawl away
Upon those severed hands and knees
Drilling towards those pure and bloodied veins
Graze against the bone, scream in unquenched pain
So you sinned... sinned
Disobeyed the scriptures
That you once claimed
Guilty as dead
Your innocence was slaughtered

As you lost your reason
You never had any hope
But you screamed for salvation
In your non-existent life of sin
You live a lie, redemption deemed
Failed the meaning, now you die
You forfeited liberation
For self-sacrificed damnation
