When I lay and close my eyes, I roll over onto my side and sleep. And now and then I view a scene from the faintest, sweetest dream of you. You run, you laugh, you tell me all, but when I wake up I cannot recall things like the contour of your smile that would brighten all the skies. And as conscious seconds fly, the memory dies.
I chase the night because I lose you in the light. And I close my eyes because they refuse to lie.
Are you real? I ask alone, but no real answer ever seems to come to me. Now days are long, I cannot sleep. The daylight now threatens to keep you from me. Now its night and I'm not tired, so I drive for miles and miles. And I run out to the lake where I long to stop and gaze at the stars that fill the skies and clear the clouds blurring my eyes. I drop back into the snow and I feel you here at my side.
