How To Die At Peace

should have been home hours ago
but the sudden rainstorm threw my nose off course

i watch the water pooling on the concrete floor
the city surface scraping my bare feet has made them sore

the cars are blurs, theyre hard to see
all moving forward, gaining speed
ill try to dodge them if i can
but with my luck its a slim chance

and then i slipped under the traffic lights
with swerving sounds and smoke so white
try not to panic but im lost beneath
the constant stir of their machines

my bodys laying in a heap
crumpled on the curb, safe from the street

the rain is washing blood out from my damaged self
the drivers pass and justify their thoughts; oh they cant help

but i dont take it personal
we all need to get back where were from
and i wont matter when im gone
just turn back into dust before too long

and then i slipped under the traffic lights
with swerving sounds and smoke so white
try not to panic but im lost beneath
the constant stir of their machines

no, i wont matter when im gone
just turn back into dust before too long
