I must have stood for hours

From the moment I was raptured
Babylonia disappeared

Debo haber estado allí por horas;
la niebla matutina sigue aumentando.
Barren mi rostro
las frías lágrimas de conocer al fin
el mundo que hemos torcido,
los años de fuerza y gloria.
Éramos malvados y obscenos,
y allí estábamos, tan orgullosos.
¡Qué leyenda debemos ser!
Realmente algo digno de ser contemplado, Señor
tan irresponsable
con los poderes de la creación.
Una princesa coronada de joyas,
vestida con las ropas más finas,
denodadamente invencible,
tan perfecta, tan irreal.

En un gran momento de juicios caídos,
Babilonia ya no existe,
se han ido sus calles, sus torres gigantes,
han desaparecido;
no llores, sólo recuerda.

Debe haber sido mi estado anímico,
usualmente, soy más fuerte ahora;
sé que hay sólo una manera
y así es como debía ser.
Había veneno en nuestros pensamientos
y había odio en nuestros ojos.
De repente hubo algo,
algo que arregló todo,
purificamos nuestros corazones y almas
y vimos con ojos de niños.
Sin ser sofocados por el dolor,
sin ser cegados
por nuestra naturaleza humana, ¿no ves acaso
la sabiduría del sufrimiento,
las mentiras detrás de nuestras maneras,
las razones para el final.

Desde el momento en que fui raptado,
Babilonia desapareció,
ahora vuelvo como un sobreviviente,
los demás se han desvanecido,
no llores, sólo recuerda.

Esta noche el viento sopla frío,
en ninguna ventana brillan luces;
estoy lo suficientemente seguro en soledad
y estoy lo suficientemente seguro con vida.
Así, por la eternidad,
el regalo de la luz es transmitido

Nacido en un mundo caído,

para mí.
