We have wandered this maze of mirrors for far too long.
I keep walking and turning corners and getting lost.
I've run into my reflection and better versions of ourselves,
I keep trying to look away, but, I can't help myself.

And so I will send anonymous letters to a non-existen

Slow moving daylight paints the hall,
the sun hangs in my window like a picture on my wall.
The city sleeps soundly in the summer months,
so I sit, and watch the whole world wake up.
And you wake with a hard heart, full of doubt.
And you thought that I would never figure you

I knew a girl made of cigarette smoke,
she wore winter around her like a warm overcoat.
And she'd write, and she'd smile,
and she'd write, and she'd laugh,
and the smoke was her own sense of peace.

Saved her lucky for last and exhaled a wish,
that wisped and whispered,

And she was just
another lullaby
with candlelight eyes
singing you to sleep,
drowsy with heat.

And you were just
a warning to avoid
asleep upon the soil,
holding onto night,
fading with its' light.
Fading with its' light.

And your heart was a bird,

Poetry books and dusty boxes never opened
Walks in the rain and words that went unspoken
Shared our dreams, made believe, ran away...
