Fifteen Year Old Sneakers

It's not 'til Saturday,
we can boogie on the pavement
coordinated dance moves, fancy shoes, everybody get with it!
holding their smiles in,
until the desgnated moment, but present tense is simply satisfactory, anytime is fine for us.

[don't take it personally, I'm not convenietly perfect
with you, I've grown like a tree in the sunshine]
(I've finally found a way to have something we can compromise on)
[I'm not, as patient as I'd like to be but I'm still growing]
(I'm strung around the room and I'm exstatic! What won't I do for you? You impress me!)

... I'm still growing, and when the week stops, wake me up
until then, let me breath (we can start this dream together)
bee stings and butterflies, and when the sky lights up at night, we continue to breathe (exhale while the weather sets in, we get in now)
