Mothmen

A small country chapel
that comes out at night
a garden of light
a house by its side
where impossible angles
of wood make the halls
the windows and walls
and shadows that crawl

I step through the door find my brothers within
silent and grim
they usher me in

I'm led to the room where our brother resides
suspended inside
by a rope drawn tight

left in his eyes
a fear from his life
and I wonder why

a shadow is shown

Then without thinking
a gun's in my hand
pointed at him
the trigger pulled in

one well-placed shot to his chest takes him down
he's dead on the ground
so I turn around

back through the house
find them all there
they've got to see this

they all let me know
that he'll come again
