Laughed Until We Cried

Going through my closet the other day
Found an old yearbook, flipped right to the page
Of that senior trip down there on that Panama strip
We all started yelling when we smelled the beach
Just couldn't wait to try our fake ids
We only had a few days, and a whole lot of memories to make
Oh man we were livin, didn't waste one minute
We talked and drank and danced and said goodbye
We laughed until we cried

This past year my family
Was sittin cross-legged 'round the Christmas tree
Listenin to granddad, we all knew it would probably be his last
He was crackin jokes and we were takin turns
Tellin stories bout fishing or lessons learned
Out on the porch with him we all felt like kids again

Oh man we were livin, sittin' there reminiscin'
Yeah, we sang and talked and traveled back in time
We laughed until we cried

It's like the best days under the sun
Every emotion rolled into one

Just the other night the baby was cryin
So I got out of bed rocked her awhile and I held her tight
And I told her it would be all right
My mind went back to a few years ago
We tried so long, we almost gave up hope
And I remember you comin' in and tellin me the news

We danced and screamed and held each other tight
We laughed until we cried

Revisando mi closet el otro día
Encontré un viejo anuario, volteado justo en la página
De ese viaje de egresados allí abajo en Panamá strip
Todos empezamos a gritar cuando olimos la playa
No podíamos esperar a probar nuestras identificaciones falsas
Sólo teníamos unos cuantos días y todo un montón de recuerdos por hacer
Hombre, estabamos viviendo no desperdiciábamos ningún minuto
Hablamos y bebimos y bailamos nos despedimos

Este año pasado mi familia
Estabamos cruzados de piernas por el arbol de navidad
Escuchando al abuelo, todos sabíamos que probablemente sería su última (navidad)
Estaba bromeando y nosotros nos turnábamos
Para contar historias sobre la pesca o lecciones aprendidas
Afuera en el porche con él todos nos sentíamos niños otra vez

Hombre, estábamos viviendo sentados alla rememorando
Sí, cantamos y hablamos y retrocedíamos en el tiempo
Reímos hasta llorar

Como si fueran los mejores días bajo el sol
Cada emoción, todo en uno
Un poco de ésto un poco de aquello
Un poco feliz un poco triste

Justo la otra noche la bebé estaba llorando
Así que me levanté de la cama, la sacudí mientras la abrazaba fuerte
Y le dije todo estará bien
Mi mente retrocedió a hace algunos años
Intentamos mucho tiempo, casi peredíamos la esperanza
Y recuerdo que entraste y me dabas la noticia
Hombre estábamos viviendo, nos volvimos locos en la cocina
Bailamos y gritamos y nos abrazamos fuerte
